Swanmore Netball Rally
Congratulations to all the children who took part in the Swanmore Netball Rally on Wednesday 14th March.
Our A Team made it through to the final and were runners-up to Swanmore Primary A Team who won by just 2 goals! What a fabulous achievement to make it to the final.
Our B Team also made it through to the final and managed to beat Swanmore Primary B Team to take the B Team winners title for the first time ever in Curdridge Primary School’s history! In previous years the A Team have won this tournament several times, but the B Team have never won until now so well done to all who took part!
These results are particularly pleasing as we are such a small school with an intake of only 17, playing against larger schools with intakes of 60!

Over the pass few weeks class 4 have been studying the Tudors. Recently we’ve been concentrating on William Shakespeare. We are enjoying this topic especially at the end of the day when Mrs. Curran reads us a Tudor related story.
Macbeth
In class 4 we’ve been looking at the Shakespeare play ‘Macbeth’. This play is about a man being forced by his evil wife to do things against his will. The play is quite scary and very exciting. We are learning about how the writing presents the characters personality.

Class 4
In the past two weeks in class 4 we have worked on our sound topic. We learned about Bob Dylan and the Beatles and all about which materials muffle sounds. We have enjoyed researching about these things and have learned a lot.
Did you know that Bob Dylan thought himself as a song writer not a singer even though he sang and performed his songs? He mostly sung about the rivalry between Russia and America. The Beatles members have changed through the years, the last members were John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. The two song writers are John and Paul.
On our topic of sound we learnt how different instruments work. We have made instrument guide posters in groups of 5-6. As small groups we created an elastic band sonometers and straw whistles; when we had made them we had to explain how we changed the sound. Also we designed some ear defenders to muffle sounds. On Wednesday 18th we actually made our designs! Some need finishing touches but they all look great. We have been a busy class and as well as having fun we learnt lots as well.

The whole school watched a wonderful pantomime production of “Beauty and the Beast” , a lovely way to return to school. (Oh yes it was!) This introduced our Literacy topic of Traditional Stories. We have enjoyed listening to some more Traditional Stories in class including “Goldilocks and the Three Bears “and “The Three Little Pigs”. We have enjoyed acting out “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” in our Imaginative Play Area . (IPA) The topic has also inspired our Art work.

Class 2
Thank you to all parents for your kind wishes, gifts and cards at Christmas. We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year.
The children seem very enthusiastic after their Christmas break and we look forward to what this Spring Term holds in store for us.
All the children will shortly receive a new Home/School Reading Record Book to be used at school and at home. It is larger than the previous book and allows us room to record when the children take part in Group Reading Activities at school. It also includes each child’s reading target, ideas for discussion at home and various Speed Sound Sets for the children to practice.

Our topic, Colour and Light, inspired us in our painting. We looked at Kandinsky and mixed our own colours to make concentric circles. This made a very striking display in school and also looked super on the front of the Curdridge Parish Magazine.
