Our choir were extremely lucky to sing in the centre of Winchester yesterday for the ‘Switching on of the Christmas Lights’ event. They were all very excited (me too!) as we thought we were going to be on the radio too! Capital Radio had two presenters there who introduced us. Everyone sang beautifully, remembering to sing up, sing out and smile. We had many lovely comments about our singing and we were very proud to take part in this event. Were you there? What did you think? Please comment and give us some feedback!

This morning, we played the keyboard and glocks to compose our own “post” – not the Last Post that we saw played by the Royal Marine Bugler, but altering the settings on the keyboard to sound like a trumpet. We planned some poppy shape poems too this morning. We designed our own Burglar Alarms this afternoon using a light bulb in an electric circuit. We made lots of links across all subjects today!
Parents – we hope you enjoyed spending your time in class.

It was wonderful to see such a range of design ideas – using trilithons, uprights and some ‘stones’ simply stacked or laid down on the floor. What do you think?

UAV Drone

On Tuesday 1st July our digital leaders met some men who were owners of an eight legged and  a four legged  Arial Drone. Lucky Charlotte and Clara got to hold the 8 legged Arial Drone! Apparently it was very heavy!

The men flew the  Arial Drone from the top of the church to the school. All the children were very excited when they saw it flying.

It was yet another exciting day at Curdridge!

We’re really looking forward to seeing the film footage that was taken across the roof tops of the church and school today. With links to our History, Geography, RE, Writing, Maths and Computing Curriculum, this was an amazing opportunity. Thank you to the Saxons-in-the-Meon-Valley for inviting us to be involved in their Community project. Thank you also to Alan for showing our Digital Leaders the UAV and for explaining all about its use and capabilities.        Mrs. Page

We did Wayfaring, Archery and an Assault Course. The best was the Wayfaring because we had to look in the woods for letters and make a word with all of them. We also enjoyed the Assault Course because we got VERY muddy and had to climb through all sorts of narrow gaps and under and over netting too! Grace liked the archery the best, because she learned how to shoot an arrow to the target. She scored 19 with 3 arrows. She was really pleased! See our photos and comment!

East Dene Day 4

Wednesday was a little rainy at first but soon became bright and sunny. We did map skills, bush craft and team building games We all now know how to light a fire using a flint and use it to cook garlic bread. Yummy! Even though we’ve been swimming every day, Mrs Hollingsworth still insisted it was the boys turn to shower! We’re all having great fun and having lots of laughs together. Mrs Hollingsworth had to wake us up this morning. We wanted a lie-in but it was gone 7am and we had to get up for breakfast. Off to have another adventure. See you soon!

East Dene – Day 3

We had lots of fun last night playing team and indevidual games. For some activities we nominated a player who would suit the activity best. The most enjoyable and funniest game was the mini cheddar challenge where you had to get the mini cheddar from your eye and into your mouth!

It turns out the tooth fairy can make her way to East Dene. Clara lost her tooth at dinner last night and this morning a pound was found under her pillow! She is hoping because the tooth fairy didn’t take the tooth she could put the tooth under her pillow when she gets back and may find somthing else!

Sadly Mrs Hollingsworth is still hobbling along after we made her walk up a steep muddy hill from the beach even though we gave her a big head start; we hope she will get better by Friday. Fingers crossed.
